The Artist

Illustrating the moments.

Yá'át'ééh! (Hello!) My name is Camela Manheimer. I am a Native American artist from the Navajo tribe based in the DFW area in Texas. I was born and raised on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona.

All of the designs and art are created by me. My inspiration comes from nature and digital pop-culture such as the Navajo culture, video games, and traveling. Immediately after that song, game, hang-out or adventure, I must create and design that feeling and moment

I use Procreate on my iPad as my primary medium of choice for illustrative pieces alongside Affinity Designer for graphic design. When I am not creating a digital piece, I use watercolors, acrylic paints, pen & ink, Copic Markers, and color pencils.

My Philosophy

See the world around you

As I observe the world around me, I love taking a piece of reality and translating that onto canvas. Though, in that translation process, there is perception. What is being perceived here is what is being seen is our everyday life whether that be organic or nonorganic. There is also a mimic, a mimic of reality and also echoing the voice of imagination as well. As art is mimicking reality, imagination interferes to add a touch of personalization and to shape the real image just slightly. This creative process is what brings happiness and calmness knowing that I have creative freedom.
